How to Migrate a WordPress Site to Hordanso

Moving an existing WordPress website to Hordanso is straightforward with the right plugin. Here is the recommended method.

What You Need Before Starting

  • Access to your old hosting account and WordPress admin
  • A Hordanso hosting account with WordPress installed (via Softaculous — see WH-08)
  • The domain's nameserver credentials if you want to switch hosting completely

Step 1: Export From Your Old Site

  1. Log in to your old WordPress admin.
  2. Go to Plugins > Add New and search for All-in-One WP Migration.
  3. Install and Activate it.
  4. In the left sidebar, click All-in-One WP Migration > Export.
  5. Click Export To > File.
  6. Wait for the export to complete (this may take several minutes for large sites).
  7. Download the .wpress file to your computer.

Step 2: Import to Your Hordanso WordPress Site

  1. Log in to your new WordPress admin on Hordanso (yourdomain.com/wp-admin — using the temporary server URL if your domain is not yet pointed).
  2. Go to Plugins > Add New and install the All-in-One WP Migration plugin here too.
  3. In the left sidebar, click All-in-One WP Migration > Import.
  4. Click Import From > File and select the .wpress file you exported.
  5. Wait for the import to complete. Do not close the browser.
  6. Click the link to complete the import and log in with your old site's admin credentials.

Step 3: Point Your Domain to Hordanso

After confirming the site works correctly on Hordanso, update your domain's nameservers to point to Hordanso:

  • hordanso.net
  • hordanso.net

See How to Point a Domain to Hordanso Nameservers (DNS-03) for detailed steps.

Important: All-in-One WP Migration has a file size limit on the free version (256 MB or 512 MB). For large sites, contact Hordanso support — we can migrate the site manually for you.
