How to Set Up Email Forwarding in cPanel

Email forwarding lets you automatically send copies of all emails received at one address to another. For example, forward [email protected] to your personal Gmail so you never miss a message.

How to Set Up a Forwarder in cPanel

  1. Log in to cPanel.
  2. In the Email section, click Forwarders.
  3. Click Add Forwarder.
  4. In the Address to Forward field, type the local part of the email you want to forward — just the part before the @ sign (e.g., info).
  5. Make sure your domain is selected in the Domain dropdown.
  6. Under Destination, select Forward to Email Address and type the full destination email (e.g., [email protected]).
  7. Click Add Forwarder.

Forwarding All Email for a Domain (Catch-All)

A catch-all forwarder sends ALL email sent to any address at your domain (even misspelled ones) to a specific mailbox.

  1. In cPanel Forwarders, click Add Domain Forwarder.
  2. Select your domain.
  3. Enter the destination email address.
  4. Click Add Domain Forwarder.

Note: Catch-all forwarding can increase spam in your inbox since spammers send to random addresses. Consider using it only temporarily, or set up spam filters on the destination account.

Does the Original Mailbox Still Receive the Email?

Yes — by default, when you set up a forwarder, a copy is also kept in the original cPanel mailbox. If you want to forward only (without keeping a copy), select Discard with error to sender instead — but be cautious, as this bounces emails back to senders.

Forwarding to Multiple Addresses

To forward one address to multiple destinations, create separate forwarder entries for each destination email. For example, add two forwarders for [email protected] — one to gmail.com and one to yahoo.com.

Tip: If you are leaving a company or changing email providers, set up a forwarder from the old address to your new one so you do not miss any messages during the transition.
